THE ARBITRATION (SCOTLAND) ACT 2010: A NEW BEGINNING INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Brandon Malone, Partner and construction law expert at leading dedicated commercial property lawyers Bell & Scott LLP, is speaking at The Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010: A New Beginning International Conference, taking place on the 23rd of June 2010 in Edinburgh.
Brandon is a Solicitor Advocate, accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Construction Law and appointed to the Law Society of Scotland’s Construction Law Adjudication Panel. Brandon will speak on Making Use of the Act: Arbitration Clauses and Agreements to Arbitrate.
The Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010 represents a new beginning for domestic and international arbitration in Scotland. This Act will come into force in June 2010.
The University of Edinburgh, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Faculty of Advocates and The Law Society of Scotland in association with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors have joined together to organise this international conference to welcome the commencement of the new Arbitration (Scotland) Act 2010. The conference will include an analysis of the key provisions of the Act and comparisons will be made to established arbitration centres and the lessons learned. Emphasis will be placed on the new opportunities for practitioners to use arbitration as a remedy, particularly in this tough financial climate, in Scotland and abroad.
