Brandon Malone,
Partner
Brandon heads the firm's construction team, dealing with all aspects of construction law from procurement advice to dispute avoidance and resolution. Brandon is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Construction Law, and is appointed to the Society's Construction Law Adjudication Panel. He advises developers, contractors, design consultants, financial institutions and adjudicators, working closely with the firm's Retail & Leisure, Property Development and Housebuilding teams.
One of Scotland’s leading construction lawyers, he is regularly invited to speak at conferences on construction law, and has lectured for the RICS, the Law Society of Scotland, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Construction Industry Training Board and various commercial conference organisations. |
He obtained a Masters degree with distinction in Construction Law from the University of Strathclyde in 1999, and is now a dissertation supervisor on that course.
Brandon is the author of the annotations to the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 in Sweet and Maxwell's Current Law series, and frequently lectures on this topic.
Most of Brandon’s time is split between assisting developer clients with procurement advice, and dealing with dispute work. On the procurement side, Brandon advises on the contractual aspects of all methods of procurement from traditional to design and build. Where disputes arise, Brandon can advise on mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session.
Having qualified as a solicitor advocate, he is able to appear personally for clients in the Court of Session and the House of Lords.
Brandon also deals with more general commercial litigation for our clients where the need arises.
One of the founding directors of the Scottish Society for Computers and Law, Brandon is a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Adjudication Society, and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
